Kinesiology

Kinesiology is the scientific study of human movement. Drawing from disciplines like anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, neuroscience, rehabilitation, and movement analysis to help people improve how their bodies function in everyday life, sport, work, and recovery. Whether you are recovering from an injury, looking to improve athletic performance, managing chronic pain, returning to exercise, or simply wanting to stay active as you age, kinesiology focuses on helping your body move safely and efficiently.

A kinesiologist is a human movement expert who uses exercise, biomechanics, and active rehabilitation to treat injuries, manage chronic pain, and optimize physical performance. They help people of all fitness levels to move more efficiently and improve their overall quality of life.

Specifics include:

  • Injury & Posture Assessment: Evaluating your movement patterns, strength, and mobility to identify the root cause of pain or dysfunction.
  • Active Rehabilitation: Designing personalized, evidence-based therapeutic exercise programs to recover from car accidents, sports injuries, or surgeries.
  • Chronic Disease Management: Creating targeted exercise plans to safely manage and improve conditions like diabetes, arthritis, and osteoporosis.
  • Performance Optimization: Helping athletes and active individuals improve their form, strength, and endurance to reach peak physical condition safely.

Kinesiologists differ from physiotherapists, as they focus primarily on active, movement-based therapies (like strength and agility training) rather than passive, manual treatments like massage and joint manipulation.

BodyTalk

BodyTalk/Bodyintuitive is a way of working with the subconscious mind by bringing awareness to how our belief systems, stresses and emotions can impact the body (works much like a reset button for the nervous system by releasing or bringing in a new perspective); this awareness can allow the body to release attachment to stresses and unhealthy patterns.
We use neuromuscular feedback for yes/no answers to highlight areas of the body that may need attention (often the area we think needs help is not the source) and are ready to shift. We use tapping over the head, heart and gut as a way to highlight the ‘why’ we are attached to our story and to interrupt the connection to the stress. This allows release tension, belief systems, stuck emotions, old patterns and reminds the body of its amazing ability to heal itself. Please visit Tamela King, RCRT Bio page for more information and booking options.

Reflexology

Reflexology therapies are natural therapeutic methods derived from the study based on the principle that there are reflexes in the body that map to other parts, glands, and organs of the body. Through the application of pressure on these reflexes, reflexology therapy can relieve tension, improve circulation, and support the body’s efforts to function optimally.
